Photographer Nicholas Routzen and the Crystal Renn Retouching Scandal
July 23rd, 2010 |Nicholas Routzen plays himself in Ready to Where?…a NYC photographer known for getting into the best parties, among other things.
However, NJR has found himself the subject of major press in the past few days.
The accusation? That the gorgeous plus-sized model was overly Photoshopped in images shot by Routzen, which is an issue since Renn is a very public role model for healthy curves.
Routzen said in his defense, “Crystal Renn is not only incredibly energetic, pleasant, and fun to work with – but she is one of the best body movers I’ve ever shot..[it's] one of the most basic lessons, when studying either photography or film [that] lower angles give you a wider subject and the closest thing to the lens will look the largest. As I said in a previous interview, this series that I shot with Crystal was done from a higher angle and with a wider lens.”
